Construction Engineers – Mechanical are responsible for delivering Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC installation works, ensuring buildings are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role provides day‑to‑day leadership of construction activities, supports a strong nuclear safety culture, and ensures full compliance with site licence and regulatory requirements. Construction Engineers also coordinate reporting, manage interfaces with partners and subcontractors, and promote positive industrial relations throughout the project lifecycle.
Installation Delivery
- Lead and manage the Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC installation workforce for assigned buildings, typically overseeing 60+ operatives.
- Ensure all construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, drawings, and specifications.
- Manage daily site engineering activities, ensuring safe systems of work are implemented and adhered to.
Health, Safety & Nuclear Compliance
- Provide strong HSE leadership and promote a positive, compliant safety culture across all construction phases.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure safety rules, nuclear safety principles, and site licence conditions are fully implemented.
- Ensure all construction activities meet CDM and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead, motivate, and support the building construction team using best‑practice methods.
- Manage interfaces between partners, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure coordinated building delivery.
- Promote good industrial relations and address issues promptly and professionally.
Engineering & Technical Oversight
- Review engineering design deliverables, procedures, and RAMS to ensure constructability and compliance.
- Ensure Management of Change (MoC) processes are followed, with changes identified, justified, and issued promptly.
- Support early implementation of Completions, working closely with Completions Leads.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Ensure weekly and monthly progress reports for the building scope are produced and submitted to the Area Manager in line with the reporting calendar.
- Monitor productivity, ensuring reviews are completed and performance data is available.
- Track progress against schedule, budget, and quality targets, escalating issues where necessary.
