We are currently strengthening our modelling and digital engineering capabilities throughout New Zealand and we’re on the hunt for 2 x Senior Drafters. As a Senior Drafter for Civil Structures and Bridges in our Transport Unit in Auckland, you will be a key member of our delivery team working on a wide range of projects involving bridges and civil structures. 

What will you do?

This is a chance to work on many complex, large scale projects which are driven by a ‘digital first’ approach. 

This role encompasses a blend of BIM Management, co-ordination, modelling, and delivery. We will also help the successful candidate to obtain ISO 19650 certification and complete training related to key software. A detailed description of the day-to-day role is shown below:  

  • Effectively setting up Revit models in BIM360 that will then be used by clients, architects, and engineers   
  • Provide technical input on project delivery, in design and construction phase 
  • Model and delivering bridge and civil structures projects in Revit, Inventor and Rhino (training for Inventor and Rhino provided)
  • Co-ordinating with other disciplines by federating models, and providing basic level Revit training to drafters and engineers
  • Preparing Digital Management Plans for the design of large civil structures such as bridges, retaining walls, tunnels, and shafts 
  • Facilitate virtual- and mixed-reality sessions for co-ordination and consultation purposes, and be interested in the research and implementation of new BIM technology into project work

What can you bring to the team?

You will share our genuine passion engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning and shaping the future.  You will need to have solid experience as a drafter on engineering projects, and experience on projects involving civil structures & bridges will be highly advantageous. 

Along with experience, we also believe you will need the following to succeed in this role: 

  • A polytechnic diploma or qualification in Engineering 
  • Strong working experience with modelling software (such as Revit, Rhino, or Inventor) 
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks, with experience ruining clash detection, and producing clash reports
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
